Nancy Russell has written an excellent short piece in the Columbia Tribune packed with tips and suggestions on how to go about finding out how much an antique or collectible doll may be worth.
Some of these tips you may already know, but some are bound to be very useful to you. She has over 40 years experience as an antiques dealer and shares some great tips that make this article well worth the read!
Look at the doll’s mouth. Is it open or closed? Are there teeth showing? Early dolls with open mouths, defined teeth and painted lips are sought-after. Newer dolls that take a bottle also have open mouths but should not be confused with the open mouths of the earlier dolls.
The article can be read in a few short minutes, but it is deceptive as it contains so much information in such a short article.
